Interreg is a funding programme in the scope of European Territorial Cooperation. This programme finances transnational projects in the fields of climate change adaptation and low carbon technologies. The focus is mainly on increasing ecosystem-based adaptation capacity of these coastal areas. The programme aims to increase awareness on the potential consequences of climate change and to enable stakeholders to develop a collective approach to be integrated in spatial planning and innovative solutions for environmental and economic resilience and integrated management of coastal zones. Furthermore, this programme aims to foster coherence and coordination between adaptation strategies and actions.
The life cycle of this programme is 2014 - 2020. A budget of 241 million euros is available to co-finance projects. Coastal regions along the Southern North Sea and the Channel area are eligible to apply for funding. The webite includes an overview of recently funded projects and a cooperation corner.
