The NATALIE project aims to address the risks posed by climate change and advance the concepts of "ecosystem-based adaptation" in Europe through impact-driven Nature-Based Solutions (NBS). The project aligns with the recent IPCC AR6 WGII Report, emphasizing the importance of NBS for resilience to climate change. NATALIE seeks to accelerate and mainstream the adoption of NBS by delivering innovative and practical solutions through co-creation, stakeholder engagement, modeling, testing, monitoring, and validation mechanisms. The project will develop a transformative NBS booster pack consisting of 25 solutions that address key levers for transformative change. These include socially acceptable, smart, and financially innovative solutions; societal, stakeholder, and citizen engagement; larger systemic solutions at the regional level; monitoring, evaluation, and cost-benefit analysis of solutions; pre-feasibility studies; and evidence-based outcomes and recommendations. The booster Innovation Package includes technical, modeling, and IT solutions, governance, policy recommendations at the EU and regional levels, financing solutions, and public engagement transformative measures. Eighteen NBS measures will be demonstrated in eight case studies across different biogeographical regions of Europe, including Greece, Romania, Latvia, the Canary Islands, Belgium (Flanders), France, Norway, and Italy (Veneto region). Additionally, five follower regions in Iceland, the Balearic Islands, Romania, France, and Lithuania will benefit from the project's outcomes.
