Description

The project deals with the problems regarding three closely-related aspects: climate change, forest fires and rural development. In Spain, there has been a serious increase in the number of forest fires as well as in the burnt surfaces in the last 30 years, thus causing important damages to forests and the environment in general. On the other hand, the rural neglect and the diminution of agro-forestry activities intensify this problem; the increase of biomass within the ecosystems makes it easily inflammable.

This Project pretends to give solution to the problems on the Mediterranean forest management through the generation of the stable rural economy on a long term basis, through the better use of biomass and its compatibility with the better energy use, prevention of forest fires or the recreational use of the mountain.
