The CLIMAS project addresses the urgent need for citizen engagement in tackling climate change, recognizing the impacts on society, the economy, and the environment, such as flooding and heat waves in Europe. The project aims to develop an innovative climate adaptation toolbox through a values-based approach, design thinking methods, and citizen science mechanisms. By co-designing the toolbox with stakeholders, including climate assemblies and living labs, CLIMAS seeks to anticipate tensions, controversies, and dilemmas, fostering a society resilient by design.
The project's objective is to empower citizens and transform climate resilience by providing tools for engagement and influencing policy development, ultimately supporting a shift towards climate-adaptive measures in European regions and local communities. Fields of science involved include climate science, social sciences, and environmental science.
