Co-developing pathways towards Climate resilient regions in Europe (Pathways2Resilience) (P2R/PEERS)

Description:

Pathways2Resilience (P2R) is a project that takes an innovative and systemic approach to enhance regional climate resilience. Its primary goal is to empower a minimum of 100 regions and communities to collaboratively design visions for a climate-resilient future, develop locally led adaptation pathways, and establish innovation agendas. P2R places a strong emphasis on securing political commitment and involves building specialists, monitoring partners, and innovation impact partners to ensure long-term impact.

The project is aligned with the objectives of the Mission and the Adaptation Strategy by assisting regions in better understanding their climate risks, developing pathways for improved preparedness and coping with climate change, and testing and deploying innovative solutions crucial for building resilience.

P2R sets out to achieve several key objectives, including mobilizing regional interests and networks to garner political commitment for the Mission Adaptation. It also aims to elevate the ambition and capability of regional public administrations, connect innovation agendas, and engage citizens and diverse stakeholders in co-creating transformative climate resilience pathways. The project emphasizes leveraging expertise and multiple perspectives on current and future climate risks, fostering local ownership, and ensuring long-term impact.

Furthermore, P2R focuses on facilitating learning and capability development within and across networked regional cohorts. It aims to enhance knowledge on adaptation options tailored to local challenges and needs across different Key Community Systems (KCS). The project also addresses boosting enabling conditions, including funding and financing, to develop, test, and upscale systemic innovative solutions that enhance local climate resilience.
