Collaborative learning initiative managing and adapting to the environment (CLIMATE)
Description:
The main project objective is to promote and improve climate change awareness in European peripheral rural communities through a knowledge based approach and community led sustainable resource planning counteracting future climate change impacts.
The project aims to create new environmental management solutions such as a best practice model for the development of a Climate Adaptation Plan and a Preparedness Scale matrix to be used by local authorities across the Northern Periphery and Arctic (NPA) region. This model will then used to develop Climate Adaptation Plans for three local authorities.
The project explores possibilities and practical solutions for climate change adaptation across the region, bringing together adaptation expertise and bottom-up community led approaches, identifying good practices and opportunities for know-how transfer within the region.
The transnational partners bring a blend of practitioners, policy makers, statutory agencies as well as academia together to develop a common approach, offering the opportunity for shared learning and knowledge transfer throughout the Northern Periphery and Arctic area and beyond.
