Description

Climate change has led to a 350 % rise in violent storms across Europe in the last decade. However, it is difficult to accurately forecast thunderstorms. As a result, weather-dependent industries bear significant economic and security risks. To tackle this problem, the EU-funded STORM H-1 project aims to make use of a recently developed technology that can anticipate all thunderstorms, 40–60 minutes in advance and with 100 m accuracy. The project aims to deploy services based on this technology all over Europe in order to reach clients in construction, water management and other weather-dependent industries. The project could help to transform storm risk management in Europe.
