ARCADIA is a European project aimed at strengthening climate resilience through Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in the continental bio-geographical region. The project promotes innovative approaches that integrate green and blue infrastructure into territorial planning processes to address the impacts of climate change.
Main objectives
Promote and mainstream Nature-based Solutions as key tools for climate change adaptation.
Support public authorities, decision-makers, and local stakeholders in the co-design and implementation of NbS.
Facilitate the integration of NbS into regional and local policies and planning instruments through appropriate governance frameworks and financing mechanisms.
Generate transferable knowledge and replicable practices applicable across different European territories.
Key thematic areas. Climate change adaptation and territorial resilience; Sustainable spatial planning and land management; Governance and public policies for NbS integration; Capacity building and stakeholder engagement; Research, innovation, and co-creation of adaptive solutions.
The design and results of the first round of Co-innovation Labs carried out in the Model Regions of Emilia-Romagna (IT), Lower Austria (AT), Zagreb & Krapina-Zagorje (HR), Skåne (SE), and Funen (DK) are available in the Resources section of the website. The labs focused on the co-design and testing of NbS such as sustainable forest management, blue-green corridors, urban forests, and nature-based urban drainage systems.
