User driven climate applications empowering regional resilience (ClimEmpower)
Description:
ClimEmpower addresses the challenge of effectively utilizing climate information in regions facing both high climate change impacts and low economic potential. Despite the availability of open climate data, stakeholders struggle with concise information and science-based adaptation and mitigation options. The project focuses on South and Southeast European regions with a combination of high potential climate change impacts and low/regressing regional GDP/capita. The six strategic objectives (SOs) and their key performance indicators (KPIs) include understanding regional challenges, addressing gaps in climate data availability, defining climate impact indicators, simplifying access to climate data, empowering regions to address climate challenges, and ensuring the use and impact of ClimEmpower outputs. The project aims to demonstrate the importance of climate resilience in regional development and empower regions to develop climate-resilient strategies, aligning with the EU's broader efforts to build a climate-resilient Europe.
