Addressing the challenge of water scarcity and droughts in the European Union

Communication from the Commission to the European Parliament and the Council - Addressing the challenge of water scarcity and droughts in the European Union {SEC(2007) 993} {SEC(2007) 996}. This document presents an initial set of policy options at European, national and regional levels to address and mitigate the challenge posed by water scarcity and drought within the Union. The Implementation of the Communication was periodically assessed through 3 Follow-up Reports (2008, 2009, 2010). The communication was reviewed in 2012 and the review was integrated into the Blueprint to safeguard European waters.
