Analysis of climate change impacts on road infrastructure

Description

The report analyses and assesses the impact of climate change on road infrastructure performance and provides some recommendations in terms of adaptation measures. The focus of the analysis is on Switzerland and in particular on the increase in average temperatures, and on the more frequent occurence of extreme temperatures are considered. The report estimates that road infrastructure will be confronted with freezing and thawing, By using DARWin-ME design tool, the performance of pavements is evaluated. Several adaptation measures are proposed to deal with these climate impacts on pavement performance. The report advises heavy traffic and regions with high temperatures to implement these adaptation measures already in the short term.
