Biodiversity and ecosystem services: providing solutions for climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction

This document provides key messages from the technical workshop on ecosystem-based approaches to climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction, held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 28 September to 2 October 2015.

It defines ecosystem-based adaptation and ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction and includes a discussion on: 1) their benefits; 2) best practices and lessons learnt; 3) the main challenges and obstacles for their implementation; and 4) policy issues.
