It is important that climate change strategies and plans relevant to forests are integrated into a country’s existing forest policy framework, and other sectoral frameworks that influence forests; this can help to ensure that climate change objectives are balanced with other forest sector objectives, and that trade-offs are weighed and synergies captured for the forest sector.
The document is published as part of the effort by the Forestry Department of FAO and the National Forest Programme Facility to assist countries address emerging policy issues related to forests and climate change through integrating climate change considerations into national forest programmes.
