Climate risk management approaches in the electricity sector: lessons from early adapters

Description

Climate change is expected to have an impact on the electricity sector. Some energy companies are investing to manage climate change risks, most of them located in the developed world. To foster the management of climate change risks in electricity production, it is advised to

  • develop joint efforts between electricty sector and hydrometeorological offices to develop tailored climate data
  • applied research and pilot cases on energy sector adaptation
  • develop a business environment favorable to climate change adaptation as an incentive to go beyond 'business-as-usual'
  • build the economic case for adaptation
