Description

One of the aims in the BalticClimate project was to show, how the Target Areas can respond to climate change in land use planning and various specific sectors related to it. This report presents the conclusions, experiences and results on implementation cases including alternatives for land use and spatial structures. The stress in these implementation cases was more on mitigation, but various studies showed the possibilities for adaptation as well. The implementation cases summarised here are very heterogeneous. The main topics of the implementation cases were transport, energy, planning/housing and agriculture. Some of the implementation cases are strategic and comprehensive plans preparing actions while others focus on rather concrete and specific measures. Climate change mitigation or adaptation does not have only one solution, but different actions work in different spatial or sectoral areas or on different levels. Political support on these actions is always of high importance.
