Description

This document aims to review climate change vulnerability, risk and adaptation assessment tools as a means of contextualizing and positioning the proposed Green and Blue Space Adaptation for Urban Areas and Eco-Towns (GRaBS) tool. It draws on evidence from international published literature, a web-review of tools and a number of other previous reviews. The tools in this review have not been formally evaluated. However, summary tables of key tool characteristics have been produced in order to highlight similarities and differences between the reviewed tools and the GRaBS tool (as it was identified at the time of the review). The review also provides a brief summary of the concepts and ideas behind climate change risk and adaptation assessment as a means of appropriately positioning the reviewed tools. To aid in this assessment a brief summary of the theoretical underpinnings of the risk assessment methodology upon which the GRaBS tool will be based is also provided. Finally, the conclusions from the reviews are used as the basis for identifying state-of-the-art and to make a set of recommendations for the final version of the project tool.
