State of the Environment and Development in the Mediterranean
Description
State of the Environment and Development in the Mediterranean (SOED) is an evidence-based, action-oriented assessment report with a systemic scope. A wide a range of sustainability issues and the interconnections related to the environment and development in the Mediterranean region are considered. Climate change is recognized as one of the major threats to the Mediterranean environment that calls for ambitious mitigation and adaptation actions.
The report has been produced in broad collaboration lead by Plan Bleu, within the framework of the United Nations Environment Programme/Mediterranean Action Plan (UNEP/MAP). The report is supplemented by two summary documents. The Summary for Decision Makers provides an overview of the topics covered in the report, while the Key Messages summary expands on the significance of the findings, providing non-prescriptive, policy-relevant suggestions for action in the local, national and regional levels.
