Description

The CAP reform introduced a new system of direct payments, in order to move towards a fairer and more targeted distribution of support. As from 2015, active EU farmers will have access to compulsory schemes applicable in all Member States, and to voluntary schemes (depending on the choice of the Member States).

This gave considerable flexibility to Member States in how they implement the direct support system while requiring them to notify the Commission of the main policy choices.

This document summarizes the new design of direct payments and reflects the content of Member States' notifications available to the Commission services on 23.01.2015.
