Description

The urban heat island quickscan map service allows city administrations and regional authorities to check the intensity of the urban heat island inside their city. It informs about the neighbourhoods with increased heat stress due to the urban heat island effect. Results are presented for 102 European urban areas using the UrbClim urban climate model applied at a resolution of 250 meter. It allows to build up policies and action plans to create more climate-resilient cities by ranking urban neighbourhoods in terms of their sensibility to urban heat island related heat stress.
