Objective of the funding programme

The programme supports cooperation projects with a budget of over EUR 117.6 million, financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the IPA III Fund. Its main objective is to make the programme area smarter, greener, and more inclusive.

The natural environment is one of the programme area's key assets. Its geographical diversity contributes to high biodiversity, but also includes ecosystems that are particularly sensitive to environmental pressures. The region has been significantly affected by the negative impacts of climate change, highlighting the need to strengthen the capacities and knowledge of policymakers and other sectors to enhance ecosystem resilience.

As a result, the programme prioritises joint nature-based solutions, the development of sustainable systems, and climate change adaptation. Its aim is to improve preparedness and capacity to manage the impacts of climate change, address disaster risks, and support long-term resilience in the cross-border area.
