The objective of the Strategic Research Council is to support high-quality and impactful research that promotes the long-term well-being of society and strengthens evidence-based decision-making.
In 2026, the Council theme “The Arctic Region in Transition” focuses on developing comprehensive expertise on the Arctic region and strengthening Finland’s capacity to anticipate and prepare for the changes occurring there, with a strong emphasis on climate adaptation.
