Klimada 2.0 Risk visualisation

Klimada 2.0 Risk Visualisation provides spatial information on climate-related risks across Poland by combining indicators of climate hazards, exposure and vulnerability. The tool applies a multi-criteria assessment approach in which indicators are standardised and weighted to estimate climate risk and its components. Results are presented municipal level (LAU), enabling users to identify and compare areas with different levels of climate risk and to support the prioritisation of adaptation action at local level.

What you can do with it

Input

  • Select a municipality or area in Poland.
  • Choose a sector or climate-risk topic.
  • Explore indicators of climate hazard, exposure and vulnerability.
  • Compare standardised and weighted risk components across municipalities.
  • Examine present conditions for 2021–2030 and forward-looking scenarios.

Output

  • Municipal-level maps of climate risk, hazard, exposure and vulnerability.
  • Standardised and weighted risk indicators.
  • Sector-specific risk results using a universal 1-to-5 risk scale.
  • Datasets and indicators at local administrative unit level.
  • Present and forward-looking risk visualisations.

Use it to

  • Identify and compare climate-risk hotspots across Polish municipalities.
  • Understand how hazard, exposure and vulnerability contribute to risk.
  • Support local and regional climate-risk assessments.
  • Prioritise risks for urban and local adaptation plans.
  • Examine sector-specific risks for agriculture, biodiversity, forestry, health, tourism, road transport and water management.
  • Provide a basis for further assessment of adaptation measures and their effectiveness.

Why is it relevant to climate adaptation

Converts complex hazard, exposure and vulnerability information into an accessible municipal-level risk picture for all of Poland. The 1-to-5 coding and local administrative resolution help authorities identify which risks deserve priority when preparing urban or local adaptation plans. The methodology can incorporate climate, demographic and economic scenarios, but sectoral results are based on different indicators and therefore require care when comparing risks across sectors.

Used in

  • Local and regional adaptation plans across Poland.
  • Municipal risk assessment for all Polish cities and rural areas at LAU level.
  • Risk visualisation for Polish voivodeships and municipalities.
  • Sector-specific assessments covering agriculture, biodiversity, forestry, health, tourism, road transport and water management.
  • Prioritisation of climate risks for urban and local authorities under Klimada 2.0.
