European State of the Climate 2017
10 Apr 2018The Copernicus Services on Climate Change and Atmosphere Monitoring have presented the European State of the Climate 2017, covering two main themes: the Climate in 2017 (annual and seasonal climate of last year in comparison with the 1981-2010 climate reference period) and the Headline Climate Indicators (long-term key indicators for global and regional climate change). The report was presented on 10 April 2018 at the European Parliament.

Global warming increases the risk of avalanches

The repercussions of these changes are manifold; from retreating glaciers to an increase in the frequency and intensity of snow avalanches, according to Swiss research.
