European Climate and Health Responder Course

The course, organized by the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER) in collaboration with Columbia University, aims to be a flagship initiative to engage and educate the public health and wider health workforce in climate and health. This should empower them to participate and engage in policy and advocacy related to climate adaptation and mitigation as well as in research that supports decision making across sectors.

The course will run over 10 consecutive weeks, with a weekly live-virtual session taking place each Tuesday between 12 and 1.30 PM. Each session includes a 45-50 min lecture followed by Q&A and case studies.  Participants who attend regularly and pass a test will be awarded a certificate in climate and health from ASPHER/GCCHE. The course covers the following topics:

  • FEB 27: Water Supply and Sanitation
  • MAR 05: Vector Borne/Zoonoses
  • MAR 12: Sustainable Lifestyles

  • MAR 26: Climate Litigation and Health
  • APR 02: Communication, Engagement and Advocacy in Climate Change
  • APR 09: Europe in a Global Context: Climate Justice
