Launch of Lancet Countdown 2022 report on Health & Climate Change

The Lancet Countdown: Tracking Progress on Health and Climate Change virtually launches its 2022 Report. The report provides new evidence to support accelerated climate action and prompt fossil fuel phase out to protect the health of populations around the world. The compounded risks of threatened food security, disease transmission and impacted livelihoods in combination with the COVID-19 pandemic, energy and cost-of-living crises are all affecting human health and well-being.

The virtual global launch of the 2022 Report of the Lancet Countdown has convened a group of inspiring speakers to lead in the discussions on the findings from the 2022 report and the health impacts of climate change. Keynote speakers include Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization; Dr Richard Horton, Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet; the Hon Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados; the Rt Hon Helen Clark, former Prime Minister of New Zealand and Chair of the Lancet Countdown High-Level Advisory Board; and Dr Marina Romanello, Executive Director of the Lancet Countdown. A panel of experts from different disciplines will discuss the implications of our findings for the health and wellbeing of people around the world, and provide insights into the path forward to ensure a thriving future
