See all EU institutions and bodiesEurofound has completed fieldwork for the 8th edition of its e-survey on Living and Working in the EU.
What distinguishes this edition is the collaboration with the EEA and a shift in focus toward climate adaptation and behavioural responses.
While the survey maintains its comprehensive coverage of established policy domains—employment and work-life balance, quality of life, housing and financial security, and social cohesion—this year's emphasis on environmental dimensions represents a significant addition, addressing the critical policy need to understand citizen perspectives on climate challenges.
The survey's key methodological strengths include its substantial sample size of over 27,000 responses (with comprehensive geographical coverage of all 27 EU member states, of which 24 countries achieving minimum response targets of 500 responses and 14 reaching over 1000), rigorous demographic weighting by age, gender, education and region, a sophisticated hybrid recruitment strategy ensuring both longitudinal continuity and sample renewal (using a combination of advertisements on Facebook and Instagram, plus organic posts on Reddit and sharing on Eurofound and EEA social media pages), and an extensive 150+ question framework spanning multiple policy domains.
The survey took place between 1 April and 4 June and it is expected to support the publication of several reports for Eurofound, and a joint output with the EEA.
