European doctors recommend to tackle climate change, our biggest global health threat

The Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) has published a new policy paper on climate change and health, making key recommendations to policy-makers and the healthcare sector. Given the current and expected climate health risks, the CPME calls healthcare sector’s climate action a necessary and immediate priority. It advocates to reduce greenhouse gases emissions, strengthen the climate resilience of health systems, support mental health, consider health inequalities in climate response strategies, develop effective climate epidemiology methods for climate related illness and death, increase awareness on climate-related health risks in all policy areas, train healthcare professionals, and integrate health in climate policies.
