PermaNET projekta vispārējais mērķis ir palīdzēt mazināt dabas apdraudējumus, ko rada klimata pārmaiņu ietekme uz mūžīgo sasalumu kalnos. Izveidojot Alpu mēroga uzraudzības tīklu un izstrādājot kopēju stratēģiju ar mūžīgo sasalumu saistītu apdraudējumu novēršanai, PermaNET veicina ilgtspējīgu attīstību un labas pārvaldības prakses īstenošanu. PermaNET nodrošinās lēmumu pieņēmējiem un atbildīgajām iestādēm nepieciešamo lēmumu bāzi un stratēģijas ar mūžīgo sasalumu saistītu apdraudējumu novēršanai. Mūžīgā sasaluma izplatības datu nepilnības tiks novērstas, un tiks izveidota nepārtraukta mūžīgā sasaluma karte un datubāze visai Alpu telpai.
