PermaNET projekta vispārējais mērķis ir palīdzēt mazināt dabiskus apdraudējumus, ko rada klimata pārmaiņu ietekme uz Alpu mūžīgo sasalumu. Izveidojot Alpu mēroga uzraudzības tīklu un izstrādājot kopēju stratēģiju ar mūžīgo sasalumu saistītu apdraudējumu novēršanai, PermaNET veicina ilgtspējīgu attīstību un labas pārvaldības prakses īstenošanu. PermaNET nodrošinās lēmumu pieņēmējiem un atbildīgajām iestādēm nepieciešamo lēmumu bāzi un stratēģijas, lai risinātu ar mūžīgo sasalumu saistītos apdraudējumus. Nepilnības mūžīgā sasaluma izplatības datos tiks novērstas, un tiks izveidota pastāvīga mūžīgā sasaluma karte un datubāze visai Alpu telpai.
