Adapting to the climate – monitoring and learning to change forest practice

Description:

The document is one of the Good Practice Guides produced in the framework of the FutureForest project teams. Forests are increasingly affected by climate change. Increased temperatures, changes in the amount and distribution of precipitation, and increases in extreme weather events will have severe impacts on forestry and forest management. However, despite the observed effects, the magnitude and speed of expected changes are unknown and there are many uncertainties. New information and knowledge about these changes and possible adaptation measures are constantly provided by forest research institutions and need to be integrated into adaptive forest management strategies. The timely and successful transfer of knowledge relies on a continuous communication process between science, forest managers and stakeholders. The guide aims to help in transferring information and in the communication process.
