Description

People uses lots of water for drinking, cooking and washing, but even more for producing food, paper, cotton clothes, etc. The water footprint is an indicator of water use that looks at both direct and indirect water use of consumers and producers. The water footprint of an individual, community or business is defined as the total volume of freshwater that is used to produce goods and services consumed by the individual or community or produced by the business.

The Water Footprint Network was founded in 2008 to solv the world’s water crisis. This global network aims to driv innovation and inspire changes in water use. The network gathers international leaders and organisations committed to using science-based, practical solutions and strategic insights to transform the way we use and manage our water resources.

At the moment, the network involves about 200 members being large companies to small-sale suppliers, financial institutions and regulatory bodies, non-profit oranisaties and academia.
