Smart City Observatories implement REsilient Water Management (SCOREwater)

Description:

SCOREwater enhances the resilience of cities against climate change and urbanisation by enabling a water smart society and securing future ecosystem services. The project ensures tools and best practices towards addressing several of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Agenda 2030:

  • to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being (SDG 3)
  • the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation (SDG 6)
  • enhance inclusive, safe and resilient cities (SDG 11)
  • ensure sustainable production and consumption patterns (SDG 12) and combat effects of climate change (SDG 13).

The project team will introduce digital services to improve management of wastewater, storm-water and flooding events. Services are developed and verified by relevant stakeholders (communities, municipalities, businesses, civil society) in iterative collaboration with developers, tailoring to stakeholders’ needs. Best practices for developing and using the digital services will be identified, thus addressing water stakeholders beyond the project partners. The project will also develop technologies to increase public engagement in water management. Moreover, SCOREwater will deliver an innovation ecosystem driven by the financial savings in both maintenance and operation of water systems that are offered using the SCOREwater digital services, providing new business opportunities for water and ICT SMEs.
