Description

The project aimed to help inform the future development and use of adaptation-related indicators. This study reviewed existing work on climate change indicators, assessed knowledge gaps in UK data, identified the key policy drivers for using adaptation indicators in the UK. It also looked at the form and function of the indicators and recommended an approach for developing and implementing adaptation indicators for the UK.

The recommendations were based on five parameters:

  • agree focus and vision;
  • secure and legitimise implementation;
  • ensure seamless integration;
  • design to provide the information that users need; and
  • guarantee credibility.
