Directive 2014/52/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council has amended Directive 2011/92/EU on the asessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment. The amended Directive aims to strenghten the quality of the environmental impact assessment procedure and to align that procedure with the principles of smart regulation and enhance coherence and synergies with other Union legislation and policies, as well as strategies and policies developed by Member States in areas of national competence. The amended Directive mentions the impact of the project on climate and the vulnerability of the project to climate change as aspects to explicitely consider in the environmental impact assessment.
