Strategy for the IRBD Rhine for adapting to climate change
Description
As has been agreed during the Conference of the Rhine Ministers in 2007, the ICPR has developed a transnational adapation strategy based on the joint climate change scenarios and impact assessment that had been carried out earlier.
This report introduces the basis principles of strategy of the international Rhine Basis District, more specific to be forward-looking, sustainable and precautionary. The report summarizes available information on possible climate change impacts on river discharge, water quality and the river ecosystem. A basis for adaptation strategy is described in terms of possible fields of action and adaptation measures.
This report is an inspiring example for actors that are willing to develop transnational collaboration in adaptation.
