Sustainable Debt Global State of the Market 2022

Description

The development of the thematic debt market continues, with new issuers joining, instrument innovation, and regulation in multiple regions gathering pace.

The 12th iteration of Climate Bonds Initiative’s flagship global State of the Market Report, details the size and substance of green and other labelled bond markets as of 31 December 2022. The scope of this report includes analysis of the Green, Social and Sustainability (GSS) markets, plus sustainability-linked bonds (SLBs), and transition bonds.

The publication represents the most extensive analysis available in the labelled finance space with features on taxonomies and sovereign bonds.

In 2022, Climate Bonds captured USD858.5bn of new GSS+ (Green, Social, Sustainability, Sustainability-linked and transition) volumes, 24% below the USD1.1tn recorded in 2021. It marks the first time GSS+ volumes fell year-on-year in a decade.
