Towards the Metropolitan City: adaptation strategies to climate change using new technologies and integrated approaches for e-governance and spatial planning decision-making

Description

The article summarises the reasons of neccessity for urban adaptation, proposes an urban adaptation planning process integrated with mitigation planning and introduces to the use of remote sensing technologies in urban climate risk assessments. The proposed approach moves away from the concept of possession, but instead it is near the concept of sharing of resources and knowledge, cooperation; and introduces models of governance based on participation and involvement of citizens. The case study of the city of Venice applying the inovative technologis and proposed approaches is furthermore described.
