    Foresight is a systematic, participatory, future intelligence gathering and vision-building process to inform present-day decisions and mobilise joint actions. The EU PLACARD project has published a report, which explores the potential role of foresight in integrating Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation through an analysis of 20 of the most common foresight methods.

  • EEA story maps on projected climate change impacts

    Recently published maps presenting a story about how Europe might be affected by key climate hazards such as droughts, floods, forest fires and sea level rise during the 21st century. These maps are based on different greenhouse gas emissions scenarios and climate models published by the European Environment Agency (EEA).

    Amid a need for more accurate, up-to-date and harmonised data and monitoring on Europe’s valuable woodlands, the European Environment Agency and the European Commission launched a new Forest Information System for Europe (FISE) which aims to become Europe’s knowledge hub to monitor the state, health and sustainability of Europe’s many forests.

  • Urban Climate Change Adaptation Plans for cities in Poland delivered

    The project 'Development of Urban Adaptation Plans for cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants in Poland' implemented by Polish Ministry of Environment has been concluded. The adaptation plans developed during the project will be adopted and are formally binding for these Polish cities.

  • Evaluation of the Spanish National Adaptation Plan

    The Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition has completed a comprehensive evaluation of the Spain National Adaptation Plan. The evaluation report makes 38 recommendations that will guide the preparation of the new National Adaptation Plan 2021-2030.

  • LIFE project ADAPTA BLUES is launched

    The 5-year project ADAPTA BLUES, funded by the LIFE Programme, focuses on the restoration of estuarine ecosystems as a Nature Based Solution to remediate the risks related to climate change in coastal areas. The aim is to demonstrate that the conservation and restoration of estuarine ecosystems is an efficient strategy to enhance adaptation to climate change in coastal areas of the European Atlantic coast.

  • JPI Climate E-magazine: 7 years of project results

    The European Joint Programme Initiative (JPI) on Climate has developed an E-magazine to increase its societal impact. The magazine presents results and achievements of projects running since 2013 in ways that are understandable to lay audiences.

  • Contest on projects dealing with impacts of climate change in Germany: Blauer Kompass

    The Federal Environment Agency (UBA) is acknowledging local and regional projects which make a real contribution to coping with the effects of climate change in Germany. The UBA is looking for project dealing with impacts of climate change. The winning projects will be celebrated at a prize awards ceremony in Berlin on 26 June 2020.
