Evaluation of Information Systems Relevant to Climate Change and Health

Description

Climate change affects human health through more frequent and/or more severe extreme weather events and increasing climate variability. National information and early warning systems (for UV index, heat, pollen and ozone) can potentially prompt protective or adaptive measures for the population and thus protect health from environmental factors. This publication by the German Federal Environment Agency (1) evaluates in volume 1 existing information and early warning systems and formulates a concept for communication; and (2) examines in volume 2 health care structures of old and sick citzens and assembles a strategy to ensure provision of health care under extreme weather conditions.
