This Fund has been expanded to include Adaptation. This amendment broadens the type of actions to be financed and the scope of the Fund. Specifically, it provides that the fund will be dedicated to promoting the development of additional actions to adapt to the effects of climate change, additional actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase carbon sinks based on the establishment of a price on carbon, emblematic projects for technological development in the electricity generation sector or industry, and the acquisition of carbon credits from the instruments of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and its Paris Agreement.”

Further information
The Fund shall be dedicated to: (a) The development of additional actions of adaptation to the effects of climate change with significant impact on the fight against climate change. b) The development of additional actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase carbon sinks, based on the price per ton of CO2 equivalent reduced or absorbed. c) Support for emblematic technological development projects with significant potential for the decarbonization of the electricity generation sector or industry. d) The acquisition of carbon credits, especially those derived from activities carried out or promoted by companies within the framework of the instruments of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and its Paris Agreement under the terms established in the regulations, with the purpose of encouraging the participation of Spanish companies in said instruments. The Fund will be preferentially destined to energy efficiency, renewable energy and waste management projects and to those that represent a high component of technology transfer in the country where they are carried out. For the certification of the emission reductions of the activities, the international standards that regulate them will be taken into account, depending on their nature.
