What is a Citizen Event?
Citizen events engage, connect, and empower communities in preparing for climate change impacts.
They include activities such as practical workshops, informational expos, community forums, panel discussions and interactive sessions.
These events aim to inform and inspire local communities to take an active role in climate adaptation.
What kind of support can I expect?
You will receive five days of expert support by the national MIP4Adapt support team to help you define clear objectives, align the event with your adaptation planning process, efficiently manage resources, build strategic collaborations, and ensure a well-executed and impactful event.
The support will help in the event design, organisation and communication by:
- Identifying activities to carry out during the event and providing advice on how to align the activities to the relevant Regional Adaptation Support Tool (RAST) steps.
- Identifying topics relevant to the citizen event, distinguished along the sectors highlighted in the European Climate Risk Assessment (EUCRA) if the event has a sectoral or cross-sectoral focus.
- Identifying vulnerable groups to consider if the event has a focus on social justice across climate risks and adaptation actions.
- Connecting with Climate Pact Ambassadors, if there is interest in their collaboration and participation in the event.
- Providing in-person participation of a climate adaptation expert to support in delivering the activities.
- Promoting events via social media and other MIP4Adapt channels (e.g. monthly newsletter).
