AceProject Smart Mature Resilience
European cities face an increasing frequency and intensity of hazards and disasters, which are exacerbated by climate change and social dynamics, such as demographic change and an ageing population. As Europe’s cities continue to grow, there is an urgent need for far-reaching and holistic approaches to enhance cities’ capacity to resist, absorb, accommodate and recover from the potentially critical effects of hazards

AceProject ENsuring DUne REsilience against Climate Change
Climate change causes sea level rise across the 2 Seas Interreg Programme area (the Southern North Sea and the Channel area), increasing the risk of coastal flooding and impacting people, communities and infrastructure. The project will look at establishing sand dunes as adaptive, living sea defences

AceProject ECMAScript program Shaping Climate change Adaptive PlacEs
Coastal landscapes in the 2 Seas area (the Southern North Sea and the Channel) are particularly sensitive to the water-related effects of climate change, specifically flooding, rainfall and drought. To become more resilient to climate change, a better understanding of water management solutions that can improve the ability of these landscapes to cope with intense rainfall and rising sea levels is needed

Publication and Report chemical/x-pdb Future sea level rise constrained by observations and long-term commitment
Anthropogenic sea level rise poses challenges to coastal areas worldwide, and robust projections are needed to assess mitigation options and guide adaptation measures. The paper presents an approach that combines information about the equilibrium sea level response to global warming and last century’s observed contribution from the individual components to constrain projections for this century

AceProject Assisting the adaptation to climate change of urban systems in the cross-border space
The ADAPT project aims to provide the cross-border area with a joint plan for the prevention and reduction of risks arising from climate change with reference to urban floods, an effective tool for 1) management and governance, 2) reinforcing the knowledge and skills of institutional players and 3) communication and involvement of civil society. The ADAPT action plan is characterized by the joint and innovative approach of co-creation and experimentation between partners of integrated management and monitoring systems for adapting cities to climate change
