Adapting forest management to increased drought risk in Europe

Description:

Water-stressed forests are likely to spread according to most climate change forecasts. Even a slight reduction in average annual rainfall is expected to increase physiological drought. Genetic management of species, increased use of mixed stands and close monitoring of pests and pathogens are among the proposals for tackling the increased risks.
