The Post-2020 Biodiversity Framework: Targets, indicators and measurability implications at global and national level

Description

This document reflects work-in-progress. The objectives are: (i) to take stock of the lessons learned from the current 2011-2020 biodiversity framework, as these relate to targets and indicators; (ii) to examine options to improve the existing structure and measurability of possible new biodiversity (goals and) targets under the post-2020 global biodiversity framework, at both global and national levels; and (iii) to identify key gaps in the indicator suite, the feasibility of addressing these gaps and the implications of this for creating SMARTer targets in the post-2020 framework. It aims to provide technical analysis to help to inform the post-2020 biodiversity decision-making process.
