Description

The Highways Agency is aware of climate change and has analysed how activities will be directly of indirectly affected by climate change. In order to ensure the provision of an effective strategic road network, even in the context of a changing climate, a Climate Change Adaptation Strategy and associated Framework is developed.

This Framework provides a systematic process to identify activities that will be affected by a changing climate, determine associated risks, and identify preferred options to address and manage them. Furthermore, the Highways Agency Adaptation Framework Model (HAAFM) has been developed to meet the needs of the Highways Agency and to address key aims of the adaptation provisions of the Climate Change Bill.

Climate change trends data is summarised. About 80 activities and vulnerabilities have been identified.
