New European climate law creates 'duty to adapt'
In June 2021, the Council of the EU adopted the new European climate law. It sets into legislation the objective of a climate-neutral EU by 2050. It also requires EU institutions to ‘ensure continuous progress in enhancing adaptive capacity, strengthening resilience and reducing vulnerability to climate change’, thereby making adaptation a legal requirement for the EU for the first time.

In the first months of 2022 new climate and health materials - such as an analysis on key climate impacts on human health in national policy documents; European health policies and activities; evidence review of the climate change impacts on mental health, and updated indicators on health - were published in the Observatory webpage.

Strategic plan for climate change adaptation of forestry in Turkey: 9 adaptation strategies proposed
Impacts of climate change are estimated to be more visible on natural resources and in particular on forests in the coming years. This Strategic Plan is the first document of the Turkey General Directorate of Forestry on climate adaptation, and aims at enhancing climate adaptation actions to assist the forestry sector to become more resilient, by suggesting 9 strategies and 51 respective actions.
